CAS(E) this sketch #51

Here is a card I made for this week's CAS(E) this sketch challenge. I love this sketch. It was great to work with and I'm sure I'll be using it again.

Here is my card:

Dynamic Duos #76 & retrosketches #87

I'm stopping in really quick with a card I made for this week's retro sketches & Dynamic Duos challenges.

I really need to use these colors more because they are so pretty.  I stamped and fussy cut the flowers and attached them with foam tape and my dots. The flower on the right...well it wasn't really supposed to go there. I had the card all put together and sat back to take and look...and wouldn't you know it, there was a blob of black ink. I hate when this happens. I got lucky and was able to cover it. So many times I have to re-make the card.

FMS #109 & ColourQ #212

I was able to spend some quality time in the Kloset this weekend. It was definitely fall outside here so I got my cup of coffee and crafted away...well after I watched the 49er's game of course :) Here is a card I made for this week's Freshly Made Sketches & ColourQ challenges.

Here is my card:

This week's ColourQ colors are some I would never have thought to put together. Arielle has a way of coming up with these great color combos. And this sketch is great. I think this just might be the one I use for my Christmas cards.

The Wedding

Many of you have followed along as we prepared for our daughter's wedding. I thought I would put together a post with all the details of the beautiful day, including a slide show of some of my favorite pictures.

The wedding was held in our backyard. The prep work throughout the summer kept us busy, but it was worth it. I can look out my back door and still have images of the beautiful day...how great is that. The weather was beautiful. Being at the end of August we were worried it was going to be really hot, but it wasn't. We had a nice cloud cover that kept the heat down.

Everything went perfect throughout the day. We had a house full of people that's for sure. We had Tiana and her girls in our bedroom getting ready while we had Donnie and his guys at the other end of the house in Tiana's room getting ready. That was fun trying to keep the two of them from seeing each other. They decided to take their pictures before the wedding. Because our back yard was full of tables and chairs there wasn't really anyplace they could use. We live pretty close to a park that is right on the river, so that's where they did them.

The ceremony was beautiful. Donnie and Tiana are both on staff at church for high school ministries, so they asked Roger, who is the pastor of high school ministries to do the ceremony. He knows them both so well and has watched them grow as a couple it was only fitting. He even got choked up during the ceremony and said "This is good". While they did communion the best man played How He Loves Me...such a special moment.

Because the wedding was at 7:00 we went with a dessert reception. We had all kinds of cookies, and cupcakes. To help keep the sugar levels down we did do a fruit salad and some veggies too. After the cake cutting, first dance and father-daughter/son-mother dance, the rest of the evening was spent dancing and having a wonderful time. We had to stop the reception and 10:00 though because of the noise curfew.  My parents have a 33 Dodge and Donnie and Tiana had my dad drive them away in it. It's the same car my husband and I used 23 years ago when we got married.

Because it was so late, we weren't going to worry about cleaning anything up until the next day. We were standing around talking and I looked over and bunch of their friends were picking up chairs and starting to clean up. So we all pitched in and had in cleanup in no time. It's a good thing we did too because it rained so hard that night. We would have had a big mess to deal with the next day.

I put together a slide show of some of my favorite pictures from the wedding. The song I used is the one everyone walked in to.  The song starts off really soft..but it's there. I hope you enjoy it.

I want to say thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special for Donnie and Tiana. We couldn't have done this without you.

Blessings,
Deanna Jean

Polka Dot Birthday Wishes

Good morning and happy Saturday. So I woke up at 6:00...I know crazy because it's Saturday...and I couldn't get back to sleep. What is one to do when this happens...I know...craft :) I came up with this super fun card for this week's ColourQ and CAS(S) this Sketch challenges.

I cut a circle and used it for the  mask and just started adding polka dots. There is something about polka dots that just makes me happy :) One of the great things about acrylic stamps is you can bend them. I worked with the stamp until I got the curve I wanted and stamped it quick before the stamp moved...haha.
I attached the birthday word with foam tape.

Happy Fall

First, I want to say thank you all so much for the warm welcome back :) I have made some great friends thanks to this hobby of ours. I treasure each and every one of you.

I'm stopping in with a card I made for this week's CASology challenge...pumpkins. It gave me a reason to ink up the new pumpkin stamp I got from PTI. After I stamped them, the card looked too empty. I decided to add some grass and I think it really help to ground them.

Of course I had to add some dimension so I fussy cut one of the pumpkins and attached it to the card using my dots. I also attached the top white piece of card stock with foam tape.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

Something New...Paper Stitching

As if I don't have enough crafts that I already do I have discovered paper stitching. It's so much fun to do and it's something I can do while watching football :) Another good thing is I already had all of the supplies exept for the patterns and they are really inexpensive.

The patterns are simply the image in dots. You print it out and lay it over your cardstock and punch the dots with a needle. Then using the pattern you stitch the image. I use DMC cross stitch thread.

I found the best place for patterns is here and here. I love that you just download them and don't have to wait.

My dear friend Lesley told to me link this up to this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge so did (thanks Lesley).

Thanks for stopping by.

Deanna Jean

A Day Spent Crafting

Yesterday I actually felt like crafting. Since our daughter's wedding I just haven't had any interest in crafting. I've made a few things here and there but not like I used to. I used to spend most of my free time crafting. I got up yesterday and checked to see what was going on with my favorite challenges in hopes of finding something that would get me going. Well...I actually spent most of my day crafting and it felt so good! Here is one of the many cards I made yesterday. I made this card for the Dynamic Duos and CAS(E) this Sketch challenges.

I attached the Calypso Coral flower to my card with foam tape and the So Saffron flowers with my dots. Love doing this combo..adds such a great touch to the card.
