ColourQ

I'm stopping in with my card for this weeks ColourQ. I am so in love with this color combo. There is a story behind this weeks card. First here is what I came up with.

Are these colors amazing together or what? I kept my card pretty simple. To help me make sure I kept my butterflies where I wanted them, I drew a light line with a pencil. After I stamped my butterflies I erased it. I love the flow of the butterflies.

This weeks colors:

Okay, here is the story behind my card. As soon as I saw the inspiration picture I knew exactly what I was going to do. If you are a Papertrey Ink fan, you know they just came out with this great hexagon set. I went right to work on my card. I got it all done and went to post it to the design team page for Arielle, and Kara had the same idea as me. I wasn't fast enough..darn it. I put so much work into my card I had to share it.

Did you notice that my hexagon colors match the pattern on the inspiration photo? After I got the card done I decided I should have used Berry Sorbet paper instead of Pure Poppy. I had so much fun putting this card together.

I hope you will join us at the ColourQ this week. You have until Sunday August 5th at 12 noon CST to link up you creations.

Welcome Little One

Are all of you glued to the TV watching the Olympics too? We love them at my house. I found a little time between Olympic events to see if I could locate my Mojo. It's not back in full force, but it did make a short appearance. Here is what I was able to come up with.

I just love this sweet little Polka Dot Elephant from DeNami. When I make baby cards I tend to make them for either a baby boy or a baby girl. For this card I decided to make it generic.

Thanks for stopping by,

My Mojo Has Taken A Vacation

My Mojo has taken a vacation. I've sat down at my craft desk several times this week and just look at everything, then get up and walk away. I'm just not able to focus and create anything. I've tried several of my favorite challenges and still no luck. I was looking back through some of my older cards for some inspiration and found this one I never posted. So I thought I would share it with you.

I stamped the present on a separate piece of cardstock and cut it out by hand. I have the die but I didn't want any white space around the edges. I attached the present with my dots for just a touch of dimension. When I stamped the bow I stamped it once then stamped it again right away without adding any additional ink.

Well I'm off to watch the Olympics. I hope you all have a wonderful evening. With any luck I'll be back over the weekend with something new.

DeNami Spotlight Sending You

It's product spotlight time over at DeNami. This week we have this super cute sentiment Sending You Smiles Across The Miles.

Here is my card.

For my card I paired the sentiment with Spring Butterfly. I love the size of this sentiment. And isn't that font so much fun? To finish off my card I added twine from the Spring Twine Pack.

Here is the stamp:
Head on over to DeNami and add it to your cart. It's 10% off this week. While you're these be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has created.

ColourQ #147

Happy Tuesday! Yep..it's ColourQ time.

My tea cup is supposed to be the darker blue, but I couldn't get it to stamp any darker. I have a new one coming and I hope it works better. For the frame I did a little free hand. I use my ruler and lightly drew some guide lines. Then I take my pen and go over the lines being sure to make them wiggly. I went around twice. When you are done erase your lines you used as a guide.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll join us this week. As always be sure to stop by the ColourQ and see what the rest of the design team has created. There have also been some changes to the design team you'll want to check out.

Ribbon Techniques Challenge

I hope all of you that joined in on the PTI Summer Camp fun had a great time. I didn't get as much stamping done as I wanted to. I got a couple of the cards done for the first few challenges first thing in the morning. The rest of the day was spent getting ready for a BBQ at our house. It was sooo yummy. We had BBQ carne asada and beans and rice. Then the evening was spent just sitting around talking. So my hopes for today is to get a chance to complete some more challenges.

Here is my card for the ribbon challenge. I decided to go with Erin's technique. I only had four colors of ribbon to work with.

I used one of my Flower Fusion #10 die. The two flowers are actually cut with the same die. I just turned the die a little and it gave it a totally different look.

I made this card for the morning make and take but didn't get it posted in time to link. I thought I would add it here anyways.

I'm off to see what I can create. I will be back with more.

ColourQ 146

Happy Tuesday. It's time for this weeks ColourQ..already. Where did last week go? This weeks colors are amazing, and I had so much fun working with them.

Here is my card.

I wanted the sentiment to be the focal point, so I stamped it and then worked around it. I've had this stamp set for a couple of years now and this is the first time I've inked up this flower. I think it's going to be seeing a lot more ink in the future.

The colors:

I hope you can find the time to play along this week. You have until Sunday July 22nd at 12 noon CST to link up. Be sure to head over to the ColourQ and get some inspiration from the rest of the design team.

Enjoy Your Special Day

I hope all of  you had a wonderful weekend. We were very busy around here making garden boxes..pics below. We sold our swimming pool a few months back. We decided to put in a raised garden and a shed where is used to be. Well, for now we are going to have just the cement. We will us it for a dance floor for our daughter's wedding next summer. Once the wedding is done we will build the shed. So needless to say I didn't get to spend much time stamping. I did manage to make this wedding card.

For the background I did the same technique I did on this card. When I inked up the stamp, I didn't worry about making sure the entire stamp was covered. I stamped it at random lengths because I didn't want an even edge. I then stamped the flowers and the sentiment. I stamped an additional flower on a seperate piece of cardstock and fussy cut it. I attached it to the card with my dots. I then attached the panel to the card base with foam tape.

Here is our weekend project.

Not too bad for two people with no idea what we were doing. The true test will be seeing if we can actually grow anything. Of course it's too late to plant this year. The second picture is our dog Jessie helping me. She has this thing for flashlights. She thought that's what I had..haha.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for this weeks ColourQ. You're going to love this weeks colors!

On My Couch

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week. I'm on vacation this week and it's been so nice. I could really get used to this. I wanted to share with you some really cute cards I made for an order I received. There is a gift shop in town that purchased some of my cards back in November. I was told they would contact me if they wanted more.  I was very excited to get an email from them a few days ago. I took them my baskets of cards that I have and they selected another good size stack. A couple of days later I receive another email requesting some specific card types. (wedding, sympathy, bridal shower and couches) She said the couch cards they got from me last time were a big hit.  Here are a few of them. I just have to say that the new PTI pattern paper and On My Couch =  lots of fun.

For all of the cards I used the stamps that are just the outline. I stamped them on the various PTI pattern paper colors and prints then cut them out. (no I don't have the die..but remember I love to fussy cut)

Each couch and chair as well as pillows are attached to the card using my dots.

How cute is this one with the table and the coffee cups?

For this one I used one of the stamps from the Happy Hexagon set to create the pattern on the couch. For the pillow I used the polka dot stamp from the Bitty Background Blocks.

Sorry that was such a long post. I wanted to show you all the variations I was able to create. She asked me to make 6 and I was having so much fun that I ended up making 9 and she purchased all of them :)

ColourQ #145

Happy Tuesday!  It's time for another ColourQ challenge. Arielle has done it again and given us some amazing colors to work with. That is what I love about this challenge. I would have never put these colors together.

For my flowers I stamped them once on my white card panel, then I stamped an extra set of the flowers on a piece of scrap paper and  hand cut them out. To give them a little extra color I used a Copic marker.

And of course I had to add some dimension. I attached the white panel with foam tape and the flowers with my dots.

Here are this weeks colors.

I hope you will join us this week. Be sure to stop by the ColourQ and see what the rest of the design team and Arielle have created with these amazing colors. You have until Sunday July 15th at 12 noon CST to link up your creations. I can't wait to see what you do with these colors.

Freshly Made Sketches #42

I hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend. We've spent the last two days working in the yard, and I'm one tired cookie. We haven't had much sunshine yet this year and it decided to make it's appearance. The tempature has been in the high 90's. My body hasn't adjusted to the heat yet.

I did get a chance to sit down last night and create a card for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I also got to ink up my new Hexagon set from PTI...LOVE it!!

When I first put the hexagons on the card they didn't have the "stitching" around them. Because the colors are so soft they blended in with the white a little too much.

Here you can see my layers. I attached the Aqua Mist strip with my Dots and the white panel with foam tape. I love mixing the two.

Here is this weeks sketch.

Thanks for stopping by.

DeNami Blog Hop Summer

Welcome to the DeNami July Blog Hop.You should have come here from  Jennifer's blog Jen and Paper. If not, and you want to start at the beginning so you don't miss anything head over to DeNami

The theme this month is Summer. I don't know about you, but around here we do a lot of barbecuing in the Summer. So that is what I based my card on, an invitation to a BBQ. Here is my card.

Isn't he just the cutest thing ever? By the amount of smoke coming off that BBQ, I would have to say I think he's burning whatever it is he's cooking..haha. For the checker board "table cloth" I used the Solid Block Boarder stamp. I'm not the tidiest of stampers, so I ended up with red ink everywhere, but it was worth it.

You have until July 9, 2012, 11:59 pm PST, to leave comments on all the blogs (to be eligible for a prize). DeNami Design is giving away THREE $20 gift certificates to their website! They'll be giving away one gift certificate to a random participant (DT members not eligible) and TWO gift certificates to TWO people who comment along the hop!

Your next stop is Pattie at Paper Silhouettes. Before you leave be sure to leave a comment to be eligible for the prizes.

Thank you for stopping by and have fun,

Deanna
